The human energetic body has a specific type of energy, Kundalini. Kundalini teachings often come in stories, parables, myths, metaphors, and scriptures. By comparing the stories across cultures, you can find a resonance of Kundalini’s teachings that spans modern and ancient times.
The sections below will build on energy concepts from the previous articles to highlight the teachings of Kundalini principles.

Kundalini Definition and Meaning
Kundalini is an ancient energy concept with a divine feminine energy connection.

The first teaching comes from the word itself.
Kundalini is an ancient concept that is maintained by ancient languages. By understanding the language used to communicate this knowledge, we can use the tools more accurately and precisely. This is done by breaking down the word into root words.
Kundalini is a Sanskrit word with two parts: Kundal and Ini.
Kundal means spiral or coil, and ini denotes the feminine gender of the word.
English does not have this gender grammar and is not a gendered language. English, for example, is a natural gender language. Natural gender languages use pronouns and sometimes nouns to describe the biological gender of something. However, multiple languages across the romantic and Germanic languages are gendered, and Sanskrit is one of them.
If your curious for a bit more on gender grammar, I was too and will get my notes linked here later this week.
The Chakra Connection
This specific gender breakdown with the word kundalini caught me by surprise. To understand this energy tool further, information can be drawn from the different spiritual teachings of the divine feminine. Finding multiple sources helps build credibility in the ancient concept of the subtle energy Kundalini.
The second concept is that Kundalini energy is coiled at the base of the spine. The base of the spine is also the root chakra. As we looked into emotions and chakras, the root chakra was for fear. Clearing and healing this fear allowed the energy in the body to ground into physical reality through the root chakra. The root chakra grounding process uses Earth as an electrical electrical safety to offload stray energy. As it turns out the chakras also have elements; for the root chakra, the element is earth.
When the root chakra is open, the body’s bioenergetics can ground into the earth. This new electrical safe allows energy to flow through the body and the human body to heal.
However, another relationship exists between the Earth and Kundalini.
The Mother Earth Connection

To understand kundalini further, see the association of the root chakra element and the concept of kundalini energy. The third explanation of Kundalini is the relationship to Earth. Earth is home to humans, a safe place for food and nourishment. As such, Earth is a Mother, “Mother Earth.” She gives life and provides existence. This acceptance and use of the phrase “Mother Earth,” is accepting the specific feminine aspect of kundalini energy. Western culture accepting this metaphor is maintaining the same knowledge identified in the Sanskrit root words.
There are still more parallels between Kundalini, the Divine Feminine, Mother Earth, and the serpent.
Divine Feminine Energy and Serpent Symbolism

The fourth way to see Kundalini is by reviewing the biblically famous story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The serpent spoke to Eve and inquired about what trees they could eat from. The tree in the “midst,” the tree of knowledge, was not to be used for eating or even touched. The serpent, being the most subtle of all creatures, convinces Eve that surely, they will not die if they eat from the tree because God knows their eyes will be open. The idea that if someone could eat from the tree, their eyes would be opened to good and evil, and they would be like gods is similar in concept to awakening.
Adam and Eve eat from the tree and get them banished. While the serpent is condemned and banished to live a life on its belly.
There are further parallels between the coiled-up nature of the kundalini energy and the snake’s anatomy. This coiled energy is a coiled serpent of energy waiting to awaken and climb up the spine. One must clear the energy field of emotional pains to access Kundalini and awaken. It is similar to how God surrounds future nourishment for Adam and Eve in thorns, making it painful and difficult to access.
It would appear that, by definition, ancient energy knowledge of chakras and biblical fables point to the same existence: that there exists a divine feminine energy that can bring not just nourishment but enlightenment.
Kundalini in Modern Medical Symbols

The fifth concept of ancient Kundalini wisdom is even symbolically maintained in Western medicine. The typical and common medical symbols for paramedics and doctors are snakes and a staff. The Caducaus and Aesculapius symbols originate from Moses in the Bible and Aesculapius in Greek mythology. In both stories, the healers used snake-wrapped staffs to heal people. The National Library for Medicine covers the history of these symbols really well.
Kundalini Awakening
Awakening can also be said as kundalini rising. To activate the kundalini energy, the energy or snake uncoils and travels up the spine. When this happens, the person achieves consciousness and enlightenment. Ultimately, as with the story of the Tree of Knowledge, the opening of the eyes, and becoming gods, kundalini is a way of achieving new perspectives in one’s life.
To be more direct, the snake convincing Eve to eat from the Tree of Life and the structure and definition of the word Kundalini are both records of the same knowledge. A serpent convincing a woman to obtain more knowledge is the same concept as a coiled divine feminine energy that if awoken, will bring enlightenment.

Kundalini and Healing
To summarize all these examples are pointing at the human body’s natural capacity to heal itself. By understanding and using energy fields of the body you can fix the flow of the body’s bioenergetics and heal the body.
All of these are the records of the same knowledge of a divine feminine energy. They are one and the same. Teaching by language, symbols, science, fable, and story. The current medical symbols, the biblically popular story of The Garden of Eden, Mother Earth notions, science of Kundalini practices, and root word meaning are all records of a coiled life force at the base of the spine. These teachings convey knowledge to use energy, heal the chakras, and ground to Mother Earth, to obtain new perspectives.
Much like the myths and parables covered, what we do, what we eat, and where we live all influence the quality of our lives. Now that you know about the preventive and restorative qualities of bioenergetics (how to start clearing out chakra blocks with mantras and the process for accessing and updating old thought patterns with emotions and mantras) you can start to strengthen your bioenergetic field to hold more or different energy.
How do I activate Kundalini?

There is yet another Kundalini concept with Astrology. One can utilize astrology and knowledge of your birth chart to know when Kundalini awakening will happen for you. This time period is the Uranus Opposition event and happens once in your life.
Therefore, by knowing when this event will happen, you can prepare for this awakening. You can use a cosmic map to understand disruptions in your life. There is a general pattern that has caught everyone’s awareness called a “midlife crisis.” This is what Barbara Hand Clow believes to be the Kundalini rising event. Known as a tumultuous time, it is also a time period of greatest growth potential. You can utilize astrology to work with Kundalini energy and gain your greatest growth potential.
Barbara writes about this concept and a few others on energy shifts as humans age in her book called “Astrology and the Rising of Kundalini.”
That is to say that human energetics awaken naturally, and you can work with these divine forces by having the right tools in place when it does. Equipped with the right tools, you can efficiently handle this awakening period and get better results.
Kundalini Meditations

Qi (pronounced chi) Gong and Kundalini Yoga are two practices that focus specifically on sustaining and maintaining the body and building strength to harness and direct energies.
Kundalini yoga is specific to the concept of kundalini. This yoga practice is specifically for waking up the kundalini energy in the body. Kundalini yoga emphasizes body postures and sounds to break energy barriers, often prolonged postures and chanting holds.
Qi Gong’s life force is called Qi (pronounced chi). It focuses on subtle and intentional body movements, often named after Mother Earth’s elements and animal inhabitants’ energies. The practice works to embody these associated energies thereby sustaining a healthy life rhythm.
What does it feel like to have Kundalini awaken?
The energy-healing effects of Kundalini can manifest in physical, mental, or emotional ways.
With open chakras and a body capable of handling higher energy levels, you probably wouldn’t experience too much of anything. But if the chakras are blocked and energy is built up in the body, it’s a lot of spasming and twitching. Mostly, this is controllable, but when relaxed and laying down, the body will twitch and cramp.
All this is to say that as you step into holistic healing practices, strive to go to another level of being or healing. It will require new tools to get there. These tools have been around for centuries and millennia. Bioenergetics is one of those tools available to you to heal the body, mind, and spirit. The other is the knowledge of how to apply this tool for your best healing. The third and maybe the most important is the belief that these tools will work for you. Centuries of knowledge and teachings have the same concepts at heart. We can use modern technologies to create belief in these old knowledge systems and use them for our benefit.
